About me…
Sam Christopher (she/her)
I am a licensed Counseling Psychologist based in Ohio, with extensive experience in adult mental health, particularly in collegiate mental health and emerging adulthood. I love working with people who are in the process of "finding themselves"—which is exactly what drew me to working with college students. Early adulthood is one of the most significant transitions we experience, and I find deep fulfillment in helping clients navigate this pivotal stage of life.
On a personal note, my academic journey began at Ohio University, where I earned my B.A. in Psychology and Women's & Gender Studies. I then moved to Lubbock, Texas, to complete my M.A. and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Texas Tech University. After six years in Texas, Ohio called me home. I completed my doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at The Ohio State University’s Counseling and Consultation Service before returning to Athens, Ohio, where I served as a psychologist and Training Director at Ohio University’s Counseling and Psychological Services.
Now, I am in private practice full-time, where I have the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to their unique needs and life experiences. My approach focuses on fostering a safe, supportive space where clients can explore challenges, uncover strengths, and move toward meaningful personal growth.
Beyond my professional life, I find balance through yoga and meditation, which are essential parts of my own personal growth journey. I also enjoy reading, spending time in nature, running, music, podcasts, stand-up comedy, and, of course, savoring my partner's delicious cooking. Exploring Southeastern Ohio and cherishing time with loved ones are also central to my life.
